We arrived on tiptoe on the small village of Montenero d'Orcia (City of Castel del Piano) detecting a ruined building that no one seemed to consider for decades, crumbling, too old to be rearranged and too new to be considered a valuable object they said (it was built late 1800 to early 1900, seems to have been completed in 1903) but proud of its past as it is the first mill to mill in the province of Grosseto to work with electricity around the the area in 1930, when malaria was at home and Agrarian Reform of the 60 had not brought the results of land reclamation, driven by immigrants who arrived in the area from different parts of Italy as our dear neighbors Marche. But our dear OLD MILL needed another much more distant migration to regain its luster, and instead of feeding local residents who lined up during the Second World War is now equipped to accommodate friends who want to savor dishes of the "poor peasant cooking."

Not having the property, as usual for the time, the real foundation decides to intervene with the steel stringers that run throughout the building which are then also connected to a grid connected the new bundle of the base of the building which is "drowned" in 40 cm of reinforced concrete. 
To accomplish this consolidation, the building was completely emptied by removing all the old pile of stones in mortar and results and more, taking advantage of the huge operation to track all the systems from scratch, as well as numerous works of structural reinforcement.

No doubt the virtues of the building, there is the use of high-quality chestnut with stringers also 14 meters long, certainly from species trees, together with bricks belonging to poor architecture of the time but after the intervention of blasting (they were unfortunately been daubed with red paint!) showed all their glory. Note the new plaster in mortar, with a thickness of about 15 cm to put the walls in bubble!
