Enter a barracks one day is not peaceful invasion: a letter from a mother to Michele Passarelli

Dear Councillors Passarelli

are parents who object to the participation of the schools' day of solidarity "in the barracks.
Thank you for your contribution to the debate (Pisanotizie article today) that opens a dialogue on the merits of the initiative after the release of his party, who instead consider a closure to the dialogue.

I would like to contribute to the understanding of why 'associations and many parents disagree with the take the children to the police station, explaining what my' why '. "
fully support the association dedicated to Nicola Ciardelli, and I very much appreciate the commitment of the family. I read the letters of Mrs. Ciardelli and I understand the reasoning. I do not think so "not to want to try to reason with those who have these goals," she writes, it 'to criticize on honesty' of their efforts, I recognize and appreciate a lot. I think on the contrary that there is a strong foundation of shared motives and ideals, which I consider a good starting point for our discussion. I also recognize the freedom 'of teaching and teacher and then a decision whether or not to participate in the initiative. If you read well the demands of those who disagree will find the day in the barracks' fact that nobody into question 'the objectives of the Association Ciardelli, it' goodness 'of the talk of solidarity' in schools, it 'freedom' of teaching. In addition, we are the first and to seek dialogue with the councilor and the city administration.
So I would like to reassure the fact that its concerns about possible acts of violence of those who disagree with the initiative can be allayed.
but I just want to ': that there is a real debate on the merits of the matter, and that means' if and 'should take the children to the police station, without altering the freedom' of choice for families on a argument so ' sensitive, without undermining the very freedom 'of teaching - and to stop accusing those who disagree to make verbal violence. That 's just a way to discredit and reject that which does not help the discussion. Luckily accusas to violence can 'easily be disproved by the facts.
What in fact as a parent and wonder and think 'simply this:
- I think that debate on Italy's role in military missions abroad and how they should read Article. 11 of the Constitution is legitimate and appropriate, as claimed by the councilor Chiofalo, however, and that 'this question should be made elsewhere and by other means' and especially among adult citizens.
- I think that for young children (even pre-school) may have a distorted view of what a barracks if we bring them in to play. Not by chance that you yourself wrote that her daughters are back from the happy day. I therefore believe that it was not explained to them (luckily, I'd say) what actually happened in Afghanistan and what are its effects on civilians of military missions in Afghanistan, otherwise your children would have a very different impression from the day.
I also believe that entering a barracks in a single day is not peaceful invasion of the barracks, and does not change the level of democracy 'and the army that now' a body of professionals.
- I also believe that since you also argues that the initiative of solidarity 'proposal has nothing to do with the barracks, they are not confusing the two things: leave the barracks and the military 'initiative of solidarity' with children in war zones let's get out of the barracks and let's organize the non-profit organization involved in solidarity 'and not by the military. On this basis the council will have 'a broad consensus and participation of all.

Sincerely
Silvia Giamberini, Pisa

Why Is My Blood Slimy During My Period

In town there is a plurality of visions: a letter from a mother to Ragazzoni and Ferrante

Dear Mr. Ferrante and Mr. Ragazzoni,
I am a mother of two girls who attend primary school, and I followed the story on the opposition to the "day of solidarity '."
I am writing in response to a statement posted on your website on this story.
I also read the letters posted on the blog "nocaserma ( http://nocaserma.blogspot.com/ ) including the leaflet distributed at the February 13 event for women.
Creed, equidistant from reader and observer, that the arguments used as a critical initiative in the barracks have been expressed in a very civil and proper, and do not understand why 'we should talk about "ways to crusade "or" create a climate of confrontation and aggression "which is simply not there '.
as opposition to the initiative and 'claimed by a plurality' of voices of authority that would also unwise to ignore. Evidently in this city 'there is a plurality' of visions of the way of understanding peace education, which the Administration should take into account.
also dissent, until proven otherwise, should be considered a source of democratic growth for all.
But maybe I just do not know the whole story (as he followed the local press and on blogs), and therefore I believe that people like me who need to be informed should be clearly explained where the expressions of dissent are to be read as "crusades" and in what circumstances are explained in an aggressive manner.
I also believe that it is important to give space to plurality 'visions of peace and Italy's role in peacekeeping missions. Last year, as far as I know, the children had no alternative to going to the police station if you do not stay at home, with an unbearable burden for families. I do not know this year - but I think even allow 'the alternative time "is a good solution, because' relegating them to a corner who has a different view. The real freedom 'of expression and participation you can' express only bringing the initiative in an area shared by all (ie outside the barracks'), or organizing the initiative outside the school, so it is free to those who want to go .

I confess also that this party in the barracks, military hub as well as decisions by the administration "left" leaves me very puzzled and I wonder who, in the current political landscape, may represent all those who still are recognized in Article 11 of the Italian Constitution.

I look forward to your kind reply,
Paola Iacopetti

Children ... shock! Laura Tussi

who, like me, has always lived in Naples and shares its glaring contradictions in the socio-economic, cultural and political, has become so accustomed to hear of all the colors that can hardly surprising for a news story. However, learning that the City of Pisa for two years organizing the so-called "Solidarity Day", taking students to the barracks, including the paratroopers of the Folgore, left me quite impressed and, let's say, shocked.

I was among the first conscientious objectors in Naples, in the '70s, and I tried to take my choice of nonviolence active at all times subsequent volunteer work and commitment, both in the social field is that of education. Ecopacifista How, then, I have always tried to frame my rejection of war and militarism in a context that places the peace as something inseparable from justice and environmental protection, a view which I consider consistent with my faith in Christ and his Gospel.
On the other hand, are accustomed to deal with the stupidity of war and the mystification of those accused of violence, those who strive for peace while trafficked arms to belligerents. I admit, however, that such an absurdity to bring kids to an 'educational visit' in the barracks I was not yet happened to hear it.

A question arises: what kind of lessons is intended to provide the city of Pisa to his boys? Perhaps a refresher on the historical Italian colonialism and militarism on the exaltation of the "elite forces", not created at random by the fascist regime? A lesson in geography of Italy, and full of military installations and strategic centers across the country, more and more militarized and "protected" by an alliance that for years no longer even a direct antagonist, and thus a justification for any own existence? With this bizarre "Solidarity Day" Perhaps the council of Pisa preferred to take this opportunity for a lesson in civics, or as they now call, "Citizenship and the Constitution." Unfortunately, the fact is that the Constitution of our Republic says dryly, art. 11: "Italy rejects war as an instrument of aggression against the freedom of other peoples and as a means of settling international disputes ...." With the best will, therefore, it would be difficult to deny that the Italian Army elite forces should learn to make war.
So what ever they want to teach administrators Pisa to their future citizens, sending them in 'outing' training school in the middle of a division of paratroopers? This is the old "solidarity" of the Italian government with the citizens in Libya, which has been expressed so far by closing both eyes to the illegal exports of weapons in that country from our own, with which the armed forces and the police are doing massacres of civilians? Or the new "solidarity" that we are going to show, by posting consistently against the same regime warships unlikely to humanitarian missions and alerting the "hunt", which are already gearing up in U.S. and NATO bases that dot the sacred Italian soil?
I doubt whether lessons of "Catholic" although we must admit that unfortunately there would be material, since the paratroopers of the Folgore uses are devoutly recite the "prayers of the paratrooper," in which s'invoca the 'Mighty Lord God "to" guide and protect the brave flight " , while also providing, in the less auspicious: "If it is written that fall, either! / But every drop of our blood / hale arise countless sons and brothers, / proud of our past, always worthy of our inevitable future ".... There is also the possibility that the "outing" of pupils at the school training paratroopers of Pisa was considered instructive also on a musical level, as the paratroops have been happy to play and sing to the students / and present their militant anthem "like lightning from heaven." Particularly significant and training, for example, might be for boys verses like these: "Hearts of steel toes ... / Dagger and grenades / food for the journey of death or anxiety for the fate / will not hear anymore. [...] And down from infinity / the fiercest enemy / to kill or die, [... And the angels of war / dagger in between your teeth / in against a twenty to fight this ... "
Honestly, I do not know - not much interest me ... - If the organizers of this questionable event paramilitary had in mind other disciplines to teach boys and girls of Pisa, like scientific knowledge and technology on the flight or descent by parachute, or physical education style 'marines' or even knowledge of physics applied to ballistics. But I think they did very well individuals and organizations to express disapproval for such an initiative, which was undoubtedly a "partial" and insidious militaristic.
It 's true that the school, as someone said, should be "training ground for life, provided you do not become one of death. Smuggle the propaganda of the armed forces with the ambiguous coverage of "solidarity" to the soldiers killed in Nasiriyah I think first of all an act dishonest and morally harmful, and as such, must be condemned as citizens and parents and as teachers. Show students - from schools and universities - only the face of war "defense" as if decades had not already been established the principle, moral and even legal then, the legitimacy of the civil defense and nonviolent behavior seems unilateral and objectively reprehensible.
On the other hand, if someone thought that this strange output could be teaching the kids back to school Pisa "struck" by the uniforms and weapons technology, I think he miscalculated. I am sure, in fact, that if we teachers we have really done our job as educators, they will certainly find this absurd propaganda to transform our cadets or students in school discipline by discipline in the barracks.
is why I join in spirit to those who want to object to this absurd initiative and to express my deepest sympathy for their struggle, which is mainly of civility and respect for our young people.

The inverse relationship between the increase of military expenditure and impoverishment of the school and education is evident net and.

A letter from the Quaker community

Gent.ma Councillor Chiofalo

We are writing as a result of information acquired by the Centre Gandhi initiative of His Department about the presence of school children in Pisa barracks, for the purpose of education under the motto of
"Solidarity Day".

guess I know, albeit in broad terms, the history of nonviolent Quakers, one of its most significant historical representatives, which consolidated the Movement throughout the world, dared to speak to King Charles II of England became famous phrase: can possibly imagine how this crime of opinion of the time it cost more than that unfortunately, life imprisonment is an impressive number of victims of state. Indeed Anglican state. We are actually born theologically right inside the jails, suffering the distress, and not in the salons of the bourgeoisie. O between the comforts of political and economic power.

** "We deny absolutely all wars and disputes and struggles with external weapons, for any purpose or under any pretext, and this is our testimony to the whole world." Declaration of the Quakers to Charles II, 1660.

** ** "A good end can not sanctify evil means, nor must we do evil in our lives, even if it could be something good, "William Penn, 1693 .**

humbly seek synergies of Christians but not limited to them on this topic of fundamental importance. We are able to deal calmly and constructively with all people of all faiths living together to develop a concrete experience of sharing a flag, which must be everyone. It can not just ours.

E '- in other words - our spiritual break bread with all el'offrire to those who thirst for peace and justice in that drink. Without references to other possible worlds, to jump through hoops for those who do not have such faith. Assuming that the United begins here in this earthly life.

I think that my presence within the left parties have essentially this purpose: to provide an opportunity for reflection on the methodologies applied by national and local leaders to pass important messages such as that of solidarity. But one thing is to join a party and negotiate for it, in the way of civil democratic debate leaving room for dissent, it is one thing to pass the message of peace through the use of arms or some type of instrumental use of them. Define any one taken away in the field of non-violence - only for electoral purposes - in my humble opinion, shows a narrow of thought and an inability to be responsible men in the complexity of the modern world. Easy road to go there are none and you can not 'delegate the task to the sacristy of the autonomous decisions of policy.

Children, however, we all have the responsibility to proclaim the good news of the master: just as they did many thinkers such as Leo Tolstoy, Martin Luther King, Leonhard Ragaz and the great ^ Mahatma Gandhi.
love our enemy. I know exactly how much it costs, but this position is what makes the difference, which adds salt to the earth and the light in the world. Can not 'delegate to others because the divine spark also lives in his heart. Just listen. And hasty remedy spiritual assessments.

We care about the future of the children of the most beautiful city in Tuscany. They will be our ambassadors in the future. They like a landmark tower wrong, he does not want to dare to defy Heaven knows, but ask yourself wisely between heaven and earth than human vanity.

Best wishes and wait to hear from nonviolent

How Does Wic Give Formula

The ears

Burnt land cover
our roots and as dried flowers in vases.

Darkness stow it in a form close
floating close to the one hope: the ears
fair harvest.

But for planting in community
what is the money to pay?

bow to the throne of the West? Cancel
the footsteps at every turn?
dying out as convoluted crosses?

Dissent is not violence: associations respond to PD PD

We find it very disturbing note of PD on the "Day of Solidarity."

As peace associations and individuals have expressed strong doubts about the wisdom of the day as currently organized, we argued our dissent, and we have proposed alternative solutions (to move the day, outside school hours, or do not associate it with a memorial service held in the barracks) . To do this we used some traditional methods of political non-violent: we wrote and distributed leaflets, we have sent open letters, we have collected signatures and accessions. We have also requested the continuation of direct confrontation with the local administration and schools, required that in any case, beyond all doubt, we renew.

The PD in his note speaks of violent positions and concluded that it is "difficult to go into the discussion if not return to the question in the way of democratic and civil confrontation."
We have always expressed our objection in a civil manner, as can be seen from interventions in the press and internet. All and all can be taken directly from the vision of what is written by individuals or associations Blog www.nocaserma.blogspot.com which are presented in succession and in full all procedures (more or less shared by the arguments) into the matter.
E 'Clearly, if the mere disagreement by the initiative is perceived as violent, seems to indicate how many statements from the municipal administration and the majority is not any space for democratic debate.
We believe that faced with a confrontation in a serious way, welcoming the views of groups that work on these issues for decades, may be grounds for mutual growth and certainly not the basis for creating "a climate of aggression."

We hope that the administration and PD Pisa return to confront the merits of the proposals submitted by the peace associations, which are the first to condemn tones as a crusader, from wherever they arrive.

More Fertile After A Chemical Pregnancy

Pisa worrying climate Freedom is not aggression

Following an intervention by David Ragazzoni ( City Manager and School Culture Pd) and Andrea Ferrante (Pd Town Clerk), published here and also mentioned on PisaNotizie .

You can not avoid asking (And possibly ask) esponenenti PD where the two have seen the attack in any of the letters or flyers that have been published on this blog and that is the way in which different subjects speak with the local administration. Unless that is not the mere aggressive dissent.

On the day of solidarity

great concern the climate of confrontation and aggression that has been created in recent days on the issue of Solidarity Day, created in memory of Nicola Ciardelli more died in the massacre in Nasiriyah .
The basic idea of \u200b\u200bthe City, the Association Onlus Nicola Ciardelli, of the schools involved, certainly ambitious and difficult, is to turn his death into a life project, the "House of Children of Nicholas", a farmhouse in the hills of Florence to accommodate children of foreign countries in need of urgent medical attention.
A project that sees all Region, Meyer Hospital in Florence and the Red Cross. Concerned about the atmosphere that is created because some citizens of this city reacts aggressively in the face of something that does not agree, the fact that school children participating in the project to go to educational workshops on active citizenship and the civil use of science and technology in a barracks, opens to the city, and do not forget that schools also consider alternative activities for those children whose parents do not want to participate.
sure everyone is motivated by the right principles, and themes of the debate is about what it means to build a culture of peace, is the relationship between parents and schools in the development of a shared educational model, is the rightful autonomy of teachers.
But they are not justified by cross ways we are seeing, that disregard of fact and in theory they wish to defend the culture of peace. For this first of all we hope that the tone of the discussion covered again in a civil debate between different positions but each deserves to be respected.
All our human solidarity and political alderman is Maria Luisa Chiofalo, Federico Ciardelli, Nicola Ciardelli Association entertainer of the non-profit organization, to all teachers of the schools that have joined the project that have been made the subject of criticism beyond measure .
long as a citizens, who believes he has been wronged, he will choose to support their point of view without respecting the other person, it will be difficult to make a constructive debate on an issue as important as peace.
This method of comparison is a part of building a culture of peace. And we invite all other political forces of left and right, and peace associations involved, to take away from this method. Difficult to go into the discussion if not return to the question in the way of democratic and civil confrontation.
