Children ... shock! Laura Tussi

who, like me, has always lived in Naples and shares its glaring contradictions in the socio-economic, cultural and political, has become so accustomed to hear of all the colors that can hardly surprising for a news story. However, learning that the City of Pisa for two years organizing the so-called "Solidarity Day", taking students to the barracks, including the paratroopers of the Folgore, left me quite impressed and, let's say, shocked.

I was among the first conscientious objectors in Naples, in the '70s, and I tried to take my choice of nonviolence active at all times subsequent volunteer work and commitment, both in the social field is that of education. Ecopacifista How, then, I have always tried to frame my rejection of war and militarism in a context that places the peace as something inseparable from justice and environmental protection, a view which I consider consistent with my faith in Christ and his Gospel.
On the other hand, are accustomed to deal with the stupidity of war and the mystification of those accused of violence, those who strive for peace while trafficked arms to belligerents. I admit, however, that such an absurdity to bring kids to an 'educational visit' in the barracks I was not yet happened to hear it.

A question arises: what kind of lessons is intended to provide the city of Pisa to his boys? Perhaps a refresher on the historical Italian colonialism and militarism on the exaltation of the "elite forces", not created at random by the fascist regime? A lesson in geography of Italy, and full of military installations and strategic centers across the country, more and more militarized and "protected" by an alliance that for years no longer even a direct antagonist, and thus a justification for any own existence? With this bizarre "Solidarity Day" Perhaps the council of Pisa preferred to take this opportunity for a lesson in civics, or as they now call, "Citizenship and the Constitution." Unfortunately, the fact is that the Constitution of our Republic says dryly, art. 11: "Italy rejects war as an instrument of aggression against the freedom of other peoples and as a means of settling international disputes ...." With the best will, therefore, it would be difficult to deny that the Italian Army elite forces should learn to make war.
So what ever they want to teach administrators Pisa to their future citizens, sending them in 'outing' training school in the middle of a division of paratroopers? This is the old "solidarity" of the Italian government with the citizens in Libya, which has been expressed so far by closing both eyes to the illegal exports of weapons in that country from our own, with which the armed forces and the police are doing massacres of civilians? Or the new "solidarity" that we are going to show, by posting consistently against the same regime warships unlikely to humanitarian missions and alerting the "hunt", which are already gearing up in U.S. and NATO bases that dot the sacred Italian soil?
I doubt whether lessons of "Catholic" although we must admit that unfortunately there would be material, since the paratroopers of the Folgore uses are devoutly recite the "prayers of the paratrooper," in which s'invoca the 'Mighty Lord God "to" guide and protect the brave flight " , while also providing, in the less auspicious: "If it is written that fall, either! / But every drop of our blood / hale arise countless sons and brothers, / proud of our past, always worthy of our inevitable future ".... There is also the possibility that the "outing" of pupils at the school training paratroopers of Pisa was considered instructive also on a musical level, as the paratroops have been happy to play and sing to the students / and present their militant anthem "like lightning from heaven." Particularly significant and training, for example, might be for boys verses like these: "Hearts of steel toes ... / Dagger and grenades / food for the journey of death or anxiety for the fate / will not hear anymore. [...] And down from infinity / the fiercest enemy / to kill or die, [... And the angels of war / dagger in between your teeth / in against a twenty to fight this ... "
Honestly, I do not know - not much interest me ... - If the organizers of this questionable event paramilitary had in mind other disciplines to teach boys and girls of Pisa, like scientific knowledge and technology on the flight or descent by parachute, or physical education style 'marines' or even knowledge of physics applied to ballistics. But I think they did very well individuals and organizations to express disapproval for such an initiative, which was undoubtedly a "partial" and insidious militaristic.
It 's true that the school, as someone said, should be "training ground for life, provided you do not become one of death. Smuggle the propaganda of the armed forces with the ambiguous coverage of "solidarity" to the soldiers killed in Nasiriyah I think first of all an act dishonest and morally harmful, and as such, must be condemned as citizens and parents and as teachers. Show students - from schools and universities - only the face of war "defense" as if decades had not already been established the principle, moral and even legal then, the legitimacy of the civil defense and nonviolent behavior seems unilateral and objectively reprehensible.
On the other hand, if someone thought that this strange output could be teaching the kids back to school Pisa "struck" by the uniforms and weapons technology, I think he miscalculated. I am sure, in fact, that if we teachers we have really done our job as educators, they will certainly find this absurd propaganda to transform our cadets or students in school discipline by discipline in the barracks.
is why I join in spirit to those who want to object to this absurd initiative and to express my deepest sympathy for their struggle, which is mainly of civility and respect for our young people.
