Why Is Oovoo Not Working

a "Solidarity Day" can not be held in barracks

This year the "Day of Solidarity" Nicola Ciardelli and non-profit organization sponsored by the school policies by the Department of the Municipality of Pisa, will lead the children at the center of Pisa institutions training paratroopers "Gamerra" in days and hours of school, with the cooperation of military personnel. Like many parents, and how different organizations working on issues of peace, we consider this choice very inappropriate.

We believe that schools should teach how to make a clear distinction between humanitarian and military initiatives. For years, pose as war, peacekeeping missions in the service of foreign powers. For years, mingle in the most hypocritical violence of war and solidarity: first injured thousands of civilians and then they will care, and before we invaded and devastated the country and then they are democratizing. We do not understand why the city of Pisa want food like serious confusion. It seems to us clear that the humanitarian objectives of the day, who wants to raise funds for "The House of the children of Nicholas" destined to children from countries at war in the hospital waiting for treatment Meyer, are in sharp contrast to the military environment chosen to host it.

to our daughters and our sons would like to explain that today's war is never humanitarian, because it tramples on the freedom of peoples, killing mostly civilians, and is essentially a big deal related to weapons, reconstruction and control of resources. For this war can not be standardized or embellished, as it is likely to do if you bring children to the police station for an initiative that will be perceived as joyful. If we want the "Day of Solidarity" educate for peace and human rights, it must be carried out outside a police station - space for himself at all suitable for children - and in places associated unequivocally to the topics addressed, such as our schools.

the end it was then up to parents to decide how to educate their daughters and their children, especially on sensitive issues like the war, the use of arms and violence. By choosing to bring students to the police station in the school day and time of the Municipality of Pisa and private schools have parents of this fundamental right, recognized also by the numerous judgments of the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg. The only way that families have to disagree with the site chosen for the initiative is, in fact, to lose a day of school for their children.

These critical issues can be overcome: just want to start a real public debate, and not to seek confirmation or justification of decisions already taken. Thus, we ask that the organization of the "Solidarity Day" being re-between all stakeholders, ensure that its objectives can be achieved without ambiguity. For our part we ask from now alderman to school policies and school directors to place the initiative in a place other than a police station, or at least to reschedule on a holiday or school hours, to allow families to choose whether to participate or not their children.
